Welcome to Shine Class

We’re so excited to have 24 wonderful children in Shine Class this year. I’m Miss Ashworth, the Reception Class Teacher, and I’m lucky to work alongside our amazing teaching assistant, Miss Bebb. Together, we share the same goal — to guide, support, learn, laugh, and create lasting memories with your children.

In Reception, children learn through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. They’ll develop new skills and knowledge across seven key areas of learning and development:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

These seven areas help us plan engaging, meaningful learning experiences tailored to each child’s individual needs and interests. Children will learn through play, exploration, active engagement, and creative and critical thinking — both indoors and outdoors.

Your child’s well-being is our top priority. We want every child to feel happy, confident, and supported as they grow and learn. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to us at the door in the morning or contact us by email at:

Spring Term

To celebrate the Epiphany we would like children, if possible, to come back to school with a small gift for a new baby. These gifts will then be taken to local maternity wards to be shared with families who are in need. This could be a pair of mittens, talc, body wash, nappies, vests, sleep suits, etc.

PE will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please ensure your child comes to school in their full PE kit, including suitable trainers.

All children will take part in Forest School sessions every Wednesday. Please send your child with a Forest School bag containing wellies, waterproofs, and a hat/gloves. We will keep this bag at school and return it at the end of term. Please make sure all items of clothing and footwear are clearly labelled.
