Online Safety at OLSA
At OLSA we take online safety seriously, through regular staff training, the curriculum, assemblies, pupil voice and discussions. We have a team of eCadets who promote online safety throughout the school.
Children at Our Lady & St Anselm’s Primary School use the Internet on a regular basis as part of their learning. In school, we have regular online safety activities to remind children of the importance of keeping themselves safe online.

OLSA eCadets
Message from the eCadets, “Hello, we are the eCadets and we are here to help you to keep safe online. We meet every Tuesday and discuss how to keep you safe in school and at home.
You can come and speak to us at any time and we will talk about any problems or questions that you might have.”
Our eCadet Top Tips:
- Keep your personal information safe.
- Check your privacy settings.
- Always choose a strong password.
- Be careful about what you post online.
- Tell a trusted adult if you see something that worries you.
- Only be friends with people you know.
- Never share your password.
- Never meet up with people you have met online.
- Always check the age rating when playing a game online.
- Always be kind.
eCadets 2024 – 2025
eCadets
During the spring term, the eCadets worked very hard completing online safety challenges. The eCadets achieved first place in the eCadet Junior League. The eCadets have nearly 300 schools across the country active in the league. The eCadets spoke to classes about online safety concerns; made and sent out a questionnaire and discussed the results with Mrs Rainey. They also talked to the parents about online safety and completed extra challenges. They are looking forward to the new eCadet term.

What are parental controls?
At home, sometimes children can be given unsupervised access to the Internet. It is important that you have appropriate parental controls set, which you can do through your internet service provider (ISP). Parental controls are the group of settings that you can use to control the content that your child can see when they are online. Privacy settings can help you to protect your children from the things that they shouldn’t see or experience online.
